Finally had a chance to watch the video...I LOVE random and unsuspected bouts of happiness :-)
It's funny that Dave commented on this, he always refers to the importance of emotion when we consider the design and content of our events. And it really strikes a chord with me. It's emotion that matters - as our blood flows faster, pumped by our quickened hearts, our brains become primed for absorbing the knowledge at hand. Our emotions drive our physical motions, creating kinetic energy.
As my partner is oft-quoted, "If we don't leave you thinking, 'man that was fun & easy,' then we havn't done our job."
Thanks for sharing Samuel!

Hi Dave,

That SHRM article was an awesome example of "Distributing Happiness" to participants! I have just bookmarked it to keep it as an idea for the future. Thanks for sharing!

Sam, nice post! One of my favorite industry articles was in Convene magazine a couple years ago. It highlighted a program done during the SHRM meeting called Random Offers of Conference Kindness or (ROCK). Your post reminded me of that concept. Here's the link - http://tinyurl.com/ygogpsw

The cool thing about your post and that article is that the recipients feel like winners. Memorable gimmicks like these can build tremendous loyalty and word of mouth marketing. Definitely a smart thing to do for sustaining long term growth.
